Certified Children’s and Teens Yoga Teacher Training

Our mindfully developed 30-hour Certified Children’s and Teenage Yoga Teacher Training courses are certified with Yoga Alliance and aligned with the Australian School Curriculum Standards since 2017. (paragrah). Developed in close collaboration with Australian teachers, Communities and Health Professionals this training includes the latest research, trends and evidence-based practices on empowering growing bodies and minds with holistic social emotional wellbeing activities.

Children’s Yoga Teacher Training will equip you with the skills needed to teach safe, meaningful and engaging Yoga and Mindfulness to young people aged 3 – 12.

  • Be equipped with practices and techniques to teach Yoga and Mindfulness classes to help combat anxiety and stress.
  • Empower physical and mental strength and fitness, and build social cohesion while planting the seeds for a lifelong journey of health and wellness.
  • Help students connect body, mind and breath in an engaging, fun and age-appropriate way.

Teenage Yoga Teacher Training will equip you with the skills to teach safe, meaningful and engaging Yoga and Mindfulness to adolescents. We will teach you the skills to support adolescents aged 13 – 21 with evidence-based, trauma-informed Yoga and Mindfulness practices.

  • Teach developmentally appropriate and safe Mindful Movement / Yoga while fostering the joy of play and learning through Yoga-related games.
  • Learn a variety of breathing techniques and understand how to teach a trauma-sensitive class to support inclusion and accessibility for everybody.
  • Discover classroom management techniques and learn how to develop your lesson plans for yoga at school, at home, or in the community.

Prerequisites

All you need is a passion for Yoga, health and wellness. Most of our students are school teachers/educators, health professionals or parents who want to learn more about mindfulness and movement and how they can support young people at school, in health settings, or at home.

If you’re a certified Yoga Teacher (200hours+), this training will help you deepen your understanding of Children’s Anatomy and Physiology and how to safely cue accessible yoga classes for Teenagers. Plus, you’ll learn how to make yoga relevant and meaningful while making a difference.

Certification

Certified Children’s Yoga Educator/Teacher. 
You’ll graduate from this training as certified Children’s Yoga Teacher with the skills and knowledge to bring Yoga and Mindfulness to children at school or in the community the very next day.

  • Yoga Teachers: You’ll earn CEU’s with Yoga Alliance or Yoga Australia towards your RCYT.
  • School Teachers/Educators: This course will conclude with a certificate and proof of Professional Development meeting ACARA and AITSL standards.
  • Health Professionals, Psychologists, Social Workers: Please check with your peak body and your PD requirements. You will get a certificate upon completion of this training, confirming your attendance and skills development.

To summarise: Children’s Yoga has a focus on Children aged 3-12, the Teen’s Yoga has a focus on Teenagers aged 13 – 18/21. The Deadly Minds Teacher Training is a customised training for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples wishing to educate their mob in Mindfulness and Movement. 

Yes, if you attend the full 30 hours of training you’ll receive your Certificate confirming your graduation as a Children’s or Teens Yoga Teacher. This training is registered with Yoga Alliance and counts towards your RCYT (if you’re a Yoga Teacher) and CEU’s with Yoga Australia.

No! The training is open to anyone with a passion for Health and Wellbeing for young people. We have dedicated time especially for teaching and learning about the different yoga shapes and breathing exercises and the unique benefits.

Just like attending a Yoga Class in a studio we’ll ask you to listen to your body and mind at all times. Our trainings are designed be accessible and to welcome all bodies and minds. If you had recent surgery or any health limitations, please inform your trainer so we can ensure you’re safe.

Because little bodies and minds are SO different to adults! Our trainings will teach you all you need to know to make yoga for children and teens fun and engaging, how yoga can support learning and how little bodies and minds can get the most out of yoga in an age-appropriate way. You’ll learn about children’s and teens anatomy and physiology to safely guide children through mindful movement.

The Deadly Minds Teacher Training is a customised training for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples wishing to educate their mob in Mindfulness and Movement. This new course starts in November 2022 and is currently offered by Scholarship Invitation only. 

Our trainings are open to anyone working with youth. Whether you’re a social worker, parent, counsellor, psychologist, educator or someone who’s passionate about Wellbeing for Youth. However, the added benefit is that this training is aligned with the Australian School Curriculum. So if you’re a school teacher or intend to teach yoga at a school, our lesson plans and assessment suggestions meet school standards, making it easier for you to teach while aligning with the framework. 

You’ll graduate our training fully equipped with all the tools needed to teach Yoga and Mindfulness to Youth. You’ll get a certificate to proof this.

However, we believe that learning never stops – so we encourage you to join social media forums, read up in books/magazine and keep informed about new and emerging research and benefits of yoga and mindfulness for youth (this will help you customise your classes and become a better informed yoga educator).

The training is certified with Yoga Alliance and counts towards your Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher Training Registration. Yoga Australia accepts our training as Continuous Education Units (they’re currently in the process of updating their registration requirements).

Registered Children Yoga Teacher. Yoga Teachers can register as a RCYT if they have successfully completed both a 200-hour yoga teacher training and a 95-hour children’s yoga training—in either order—that are registered with Yoga Alliance. Please note that you’re still eligible and certified to teach yoga to children following the training – the RCYT is a registration with Yoga Alliance/Yoga Australia for Yoga Teachers. 

That’s completely up to you. There are benefits in joining Associations – and we’ll also discuss this on day four of the training.

We recommend to get Public Liability Insurance (if you’re planning on teaching in community rooms etc as this is a booking requirement at most places) and also a Working with Children Check and a First Aid Training. This will be discussed on the last day of the training and we can give you some advise on what and what not to do.

Yes! 100% of attendance is required to graduate as a Children’s, Teens or Youth Yoga Teacher. 

Our graduates teach in schools in form of after or before school classes. School teachers joining our training incorporate Yoga and Mindfulness as part of their Curriculum Activities and Health and Physical Education. Others start their own Yoga Business and teach in Community Centres or Yoga Studios. There are a variety of options depending on what your interest and passion is and how far you’d like to take your Yoga for Youth journey. Your income can range anywhere between making $30 – $250 per yoga class.

Your Trainer is a highly-skilled, qualified Yoga Teacher with specialist training in Children’s and Teens Yoga as well as experience of teaching hundreds of classes at schools and communities in Australia. The name of the individual Trainer will be advertised with each training module.

Yes. We offer a $100 non-refundable deposit with the remaining tuition divided into three instalments. Note – this is not applicable to the Deadly Minds Training, as this is being offered by Scholarship Invitation only.
